This one is a novel, published in 1933 by an English woman who had spent a lot of time in small town Germany in the early thirties. A review at the time said „it’s a blessing to read a novel which deals … with the poignant predicament of our time“

Made ramen from scratch yesterday. Spent the day chopping and stewing. Individual ingredients tasted flavourful but harmless. The combination was hellfire! (But so delicious) #vegan #whatveganseat #ramen

Today I taste-tested two batches of homemade quince jelly vs one sample of store-bought. They are not even remotely in the same category. Homemade yum. #vegan #homemade

These two posts next to each other on my feed describe the fundamental issue with so much of the world: cherish your pet while torturing an equal being. As long as we can tolerate that brainsplitting fact I don’t think we can evolve into a peaceful world.

That sounds very similar to a ‘walk’ I took with my son through Akihabara.

Super delicious #vegan dinner at Ellis in Mechelen, BE. I think they call their cauliflower bites “Flowerwings” not sure anymore. The whole meal appetizer, veggie burger and fries was only €20. Totally worth it. Burger patty of red beets, lentils and loads of fresh herbs. Yum.

My very Japan enthusiastic teenager decided to make matcha as authentically as possible. We then also added some to our Sunday morning crumpets. Oishi!

I’m curious how it felt to live in the early 1930’s. Have started searching for some books that tell the stories first hand. Plan to share here some snippets that jump out at me as I read. First up: Die Moorsoldaten (Pear bog soldiers). The first known account of a concentration camp. #history

I realised this morning how much more “in control” I felt running vs riding a bike. Rolling downhill at pace on a road shared by multiple types of vehicles I felt extraordinarily vulnerable. Bikers have to trust and rely upon others to watch out for them much more than pedestrians do.

Last stop yesterday was a visit to a Masai village where the chief’s son explained culture and daily life to us. The chief’s hut has two adults, several children and calves and even a guest bedroom in approx 9 square meters and yet is full of laughter and smiles.

Leaving Giraffe Hills Safari Camp this morning. Sad to go but glad I came here. The chef made me special meals as soon as he realised I’m vegan. the whole team was super nice. living in a tent on the edge of a massive national park filled with literally millions of animals was a special treat.

I shared my orange and banana with some black face monkeys today. We had fun interacting with each other.

Can’t stop raving about Giraffe Hills Camp at Masai Mara. Yesterday the chef asked me about the picnic lunch box - knowing I am vegan. I didn’t want to make a fuss and just said yes when he suggested a tomato sandwich and crisps. Turns out these were homemade crisps. So good. 😊 grateful 🙏

It’s been an amazing couple of hours driving through Masai Mara national Park late afternoon. In many ways it has made me think that life here is okay.
