It's lap very subjective as yo where people live. In London where I live, it's been much dryer and a little warmer than last summer.

The media won't go into details with regards to this, simply because most people that aren't interested in meteorology, won't have a clue what they're talking about. All most people are interested in a daily basis is, will it be hot, cold, sunny or wet today.
