America's workers are not "falling" into homelessness.

They're being pushed.

My essay for @nytopinion.nytimes.com:
Opinion | America Is Pushing Its Workers Into Homelessness
The working homeless are casualties of our prosperity.

When our systems fail. Housing instability and homelessness should never be the cause of family separation.

Would be really curious to compare this data to Tennessee's.

We have to do better.
In more than 700 cases over five years, Georgia reported inadequate housing as the sole reason for taking a child into foster care, a @wabe.org and ProPublica analysis found.

Advocates say it would be cheaper to help families get housing.

Everyone seems to disagree with me about this, but *everything* the media does—what to cover, what not to cover, how to frame a headline, etc.—is an editorial choice. There is no such thing as “neutrality,” and even if there were, covering something purely “neutrally” is an editorial choice, too.
Here are two NYT headlines about shootings this week.

You'd think that the one with evocative, emotional language ("tragic"), that centers the need for safety, and was written by an army of reporters would be the one about two kindergarteners getting shot at school, but buddy, this is America.

This morning, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments about Tennessee's ban on puberty blockers and hormone therapy for transgender teenagers.

At the center of the case is a Nashville teenager, L, and her parents, who sued the state last year. www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...

Sepulveda lists the districts with more renters than homeowners:
21, 17, 32, 5, 9, 13, 30, and 2.

She says every district has a lot of renters. "Renters are important, and they are also voters. Homeowners are not the only people that need to be heard."

A staggering statistic: Every $100 increase in median rent is associated with a *9 percent* increase in the estimated homelessness rate, according to a report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office.

The math of our housing crisis is brutally clear.

Excited to join a cohort of folks from Nashville to dig in and do some planning on ending homelessness in our city.
