I have nothing against tropes but there's something so demoralizing about the encroaching capitalist need to measure everything so that they can reproduce it for commodity consumption that makes tropy writing feel so lifeless to me

I've breezed through Reverend Insanity, Heaven Officials Blessing, and The Husky and His White Cat Shizun this past week to get to know Chinese web novels. Of the three, The Husky novel was best written but seems to be the least popular, while Rev Insanity was the most popular but worst written

I just had a personal interaction with someone that is driving me to say that your credentials of being a highly paid corporate worker means nothing to me, especially if you think it means I'm going to treat you better than workers you view as beneath yourself

I think social media has truly rotted my brain. I find that my reading habits (I have to read a book in one go instead of over several days, my eyes zoom across the page, sometimes skipping paragraphs, unable to savor the writing) mirrors the way I use social media. How am I going to unlearn this
