Me having literally just finished that part earlier today: Huh, this was a really good refresher on how to exist in a Zen-like state. I'd have been screwed if I allowed this to live in my emotions rent free. 🤣

Oates: Your deepest grievance with me is that you find no value in the product of my labor. My deepest grievance with you is that you spend your existence looking for a way to make others hate you as much as you hate yourself. We are simply not the same.🤣

I think it's really crucial that we walk that tightrope of "give enough context for them to understand value, but also encourage enough critical thought that they aren't limited to the lens we gave them." It's not easy, but it's totally worth our effort in preparing them to take over tomorrow.

Nothing like practical application. 😬

One of my history teachers used to write who-dunnits where he'd take real events and rewrite everything to have different names, we'd be given access to dossiers on people and places, and have to write who we thought did the deed and why. Really fascinating.

I definitely feel heavy and like everything takes 10x more energy, but my real cataplexy really only hits after I've hit an emotional peak and the adrenaline wears off. No better way to master emotional control than realizing any major outpouring will leave me holding a wall. 🤣

My point here is: Just because you've become acclimated to the danger and feel you've mastered the skillset required to not feel threatened doesn't make it a safer place, you've just become better at thriving there. It's still plenty dangerous and scary to people who lack your background.

Oof, the number of folks who truly think they're going to weekend-warrior their way to self-sufficient agriculture... Somehow they understand that farmers historically had some of the most backbreaking labor known to man and still frequently starved during bad winters but think it'll be different.🤣

May a higher power save them, because some of those boys may not survive long enough to tender that defense. The Marines aren't training for competitive basket weaving and once a few start treating trips out like they're crossing a hostile urban environment, well... they're trained for that.

I don't know, but I don't think that chapter is long for this earth one way or the other...
