Wife got an Atari Portfolio + 64KB Memory Card. Made this reader/writer for it to transfer files. Connector was made with 3D printer + 22 AWG solid wire, then wired to Raspberry Pico 2 (RP2350). When connected it presents the card as USB drive to be able to copy/paste files via Explorer.

Highest I got is server NVMe and yours is more than double TBW/h.

Reappeared after rebooting Windows. Weird.

My 4TB WD SN850X just died??

sdc got one more Read Recovery Attempt 30 mins after posting. Listening closely to the case, this noise shouldn't be normal. They are properly mounted per instructions and I did check nothing was loose. I can't hear the server just standing in the same room. Temps are always below 40°C.

>Create 2 50% partitions on 2 blank disks, create degraded RAID 10 on 2 partitions, rsync, add 1st mirror drive and sync, before critical step create RAID 5 on the 3 empty partitions, rsync data to RAID 5, add last mirror drive to RAID 10 and sync, delete RAID 5, grow partitions, RAID 10, and FS.

It could also be that the drive thought it wrote the data to those sectors but didn't, and the returned bad data was old data once written to it still keeping good CRC? Or buggy firmware. They seem to have an earlier firmware for that model.

Since both HDDs contents should be identical after rsync, I mounted both and I'm comparing hashes via PowerShell script.
Did 2 passes of memtest, 0 errors.
Currently doing TestMem while transferring files and got 1 error.
Also running PowerShell script on another computer to discard Samba.

It took like 10 tries each waiting for file to not be cached, but I caught it via explorer and 7zip.

Fresh from the oven 10G NIC (Rtl8127). Quite small in person.
It works but I can't measure it properly since apparently I plugged it into PCIe 3.0 x1. I didn't think MSI would put that on 16x slot of a motherboard released this year.

I don't think I'll be getting a better CPU anytime soon, but it's nice to see there could be some room for improvement.
Here's what I got with GPU-Z.

Very happy with the upgraded Baby-AT build.
-Pentium III 1000/100.
-768 MB RAM.
-MX440 64MB 128-bit.
-120 GB SSD with W98SE, WXP, Debian 12.
October 5, 2025 at 9:44 PM
I finally got this MX440 for 6€.
Speeds could be better but it has the good 128-bit bus and is a very nice upgrade for the price.
Scores I got for comparison:
-TNT2 M64 32MB: 2218
-MX200 32MB: 3145
-MX440 64MB (this card): 5419

Regarding compatibility issues, a lot of people say it's the adapter, others that it's the controller.
I really can't say much due to the lack of information on the Internet, but I'll leave these here.
No difference seen between JM20330 or Marvell for each.

For some reason on mine it didn't want to boot at all.
The issue is that the card has an AMS1117 3.3V which powers an AMS1117 1.8V and the 1.8 voltage arrives too late.
I replaced the AMS1117 3.3V with an AP2114H 3.3V which has a lower dropout voltage (0.45V vs 1.1V) and the caps.
That solved it.

I managed to flash the IC with a ROM that dosdude1 made (modified from ROM for SeriTek/1S2 Sil3112, available at MacOS9Lives) using a FreeDOS bootable floppy (GitHub codercowboy/freedosbootdisks) on the PC with UpdFlash V3.19 (got from Wayback Machine siliconimage dot com).
And it works! 🎉

Used 29F040 IC to replace it.
This one doesn't require 12V (5V only) and has 4x capacity.
I think it soldered okay. Now I need to find the software and files and see if it flashes.

These cards usually come with an Option ROM that makes it possible to boot from it. In this case it is of course a PC one.
I need to flash it with a Mac ROM. Two issues:
1. 28F010 requires 12V for erase, so it can't be reprogrammed.
2. 28F010 is too small for the Sonnet Tempo ROM.
Let's replace it..

For the next part of the PowerMac G4, I bought this PCI SATA card. I wasn't happy with a cheap SATA to IDE adapter which caused a lot of headaches, so I wanted to try something different. I chose this one because it has the same chipset as a PCI SATA card made for PowerMac called Sonnet Tempo.

And done. Glitches gone.
Yay.

Thorough visual inspection revealed nothing, so I started touching and pressing around with my finger until I found a place where changes to the video output were most notable.
All RAM ICs have this pair of 22 and 0 ohm SMD resistors. This RAM IC 0 ohm resistor measures 1 Mohm. Let's replace it..
