They want people to be cowed by them. There was an anecdote on Meidas Touch that a MAGA went to his normie neighbour to gloat but when he cheerfully explained tariffs to him and said they wouldn't too negatively affect him the MAGA looked crestfallen and left. They just wanna see others suffer.

That's exactly how I stopped. The enjoyment was outweighed by the negatives (cost, feeling subpar etc.). No great come to jesus moment, just couldn't be bothered with it anymore.
