It's not 100% independent in the sense that Google has built a semantic web that has a better detection of relationships between various entities.

A brand associated with a domain in terms of content, links, and user behavior will most likely have a known semantic relationship with each other.

Perhaps the technology allows for easier visual content creation that solves many of the problems more effectively than those that used to rely on written text.

As with SEO, it depends.

Interesting take.

I don’t think it’s as black and white as generations and tech.

The medium depends on the search intent. Entertainment is more visual, but maybe we just need a new ‘Harry Potter’ phenomenon.

How-tos might have been better solved by visual in some circumstances.

Yep! There’s a lot of literature about the potential of an AI winter.

There’s a chance that we literally don’t have the resources to build the advancements necessary.

But we could also have a breakthrough in architecture or tech out of nowhere.

All I’m saying is human humility isn’t a mistake.

Also, don’t underestimate how successful ‘bad marketing campaigns’ are.

Many times the campaigns we have the least expectations for perform the best.

Direct mail still crushes.

AI can produce that stuff…

Yes. There are many technical limitations today. I don’t think it impossible that they won’t exist tomorrow.

My point is that it may be and in my personal opinion will likely be at some point, 5…10…20 years from now.

Then our perspectives shift dramatically.

I love these thought experiments.

While I don’t think it’s likely to exceed our capabilities any time soon, people need humility in the long run.

It’s not impossible that AI tools outpace human creativity at some point.

If it has access to the history of human knowledge, why can’t it be better?

Agreed. The most recent episode might be the best pod you’ve ever listened to.

But in all seriousness, Jeremy has a great operation with a bunch of excellent guests and good ideas woven through the interviews.

Love me some North Carolina! Had family in Asheville until recently. They ended up in Greenville, SC.
