I never trust restaurants started by entrepreneurs instead of chefs.

Once “people earning money to pay their bills” became “labor costs” on a spreadsheet we were done as a functioning society.

Why is it usually the trucks with a thin blue line sticker speeding down a residential street making the neighborhood unsafe?

I’m a recent convert to Eurovision, but I’ve fallen in love with the Super Bowl for theater kids. This was such a fun episode!
This week, we’re joined by jetsetter @garrettpalm.bsky.social to listen to a carefully curated playlist of the summeriest songs ever to hit the ESC. So put on those shades, grab a lemonade, and hit the beach with this week’s episode!

For those of you keeping track I’m all about blackberries and Cara Cara oranges right now. I wish I could give you an exact date when this happened but you’ll just have to estimate a date within the last few months.

I miss taking the bus. Where else can I overhear someone tell their friend about T-Shirt Paul who, unsurprisingly, hasn’t had a job in 5 years.

How am I supposed to get any work done when I have hours of NBA playoff reaction podcasts to listen to?

Talking to people from all over the world at the Travel and Adventure Show here in LA shocked me. Their number one issue was the food they’re eating while here: it was all lower quality than they’re used to and much more expensive. I’m reconsidering how I think of LA as a food city.

It finally happened. A pizza restaurant in Colombia tried to stop us from each ordering our own pizza.

I’ve already had a street vendor here in Cartagena call me “Mucho Blanco” which I assume means King of Portland?

Our top episode continues to be Amanda’s! It makes sense because she was a great guest!

I want to talk about the latest @ringernba.bsky.social Group Chat episode.

First, on wanting more "authenticity" (a made up concept!) from players -- who are we to decide what is authentic? What's more authentic than a player saying I want to do whatever it takes to make money for my family?

Walking through the Glendale Galleria yesterday I thought about how great it would be if there was a train station in the basement and I realized Japan ruined me.

I keep hearing NBA people talk about how the Emirates Tournament Cup is meaningless — as if sports has any meaning outside of what we give it.

The Guardian will no longer post on X. In a note to readers, the publication said X is “a toxic media platform” and “its owner, Elon Musk, has been able to use its influence to shape political discourse.”
The Guardian won’t post on X anymore — but isn’t deleting its accounts there, at least for now
Guardian reporters may still use X for newsgathering, the company said.

On a recent pod @howardbeck.bsky.social said fandom is all about bragging rights. I disagree! I never got to watch my Trailblazers win it all and I’m still a fan even if I never do. I’m rooting for more than just laundry, I’m rooting for the people who are representing my hometown.

The new mission statement from LA restauranteurs seems to be “I want to make a place that feels like where I would go when I was young and broke that is no longer around because the landlord raised the rent. It’s exactly like that in vibes but now a hot dog is $25.”

Here is an example of why I think LA food can be overrated: I listened to an interview with an owner of an ice cream shop I already don’t like but people seem to love, so I have bias here.
