There’s really no negotiation with a party that’s willing to lay siege and starve people out.

But it’s at least laid bare that the GOP would happily watch you starve to death

This is exactly what I’ve been trying to express.

Go with the messaging of “we aren’t opening the government we want but it’s at least a government that will feed our vulnerable and pay our air traffic controllers”

Then push like hell into midterms.

Just feels like an incredibly privileged position to take this line of attack.

I guess I just want to hear from those who are in the actual pain everyone references.

What do they want from this party?

What will help them? Not just short term but long term.

It seems as though people think AGI is just recursively calling LLMs against themselves paired deterministic functions to an extreme degree.

If you think this is the path compute becomes your goal.

It’s not to say you can’t drive interesting and powerful tools this way.

But it’s not AGI

Again, it's not the government we want. But it's at least better than nothing and allows us to move forward.

The GOP will not cave

So the choice is do we let people starve for a day that won't come or do we give people a reason to fight for a better tomorrow

It then just creates a position for them in 26/28

It's proof that the GOP does not care about you

It's proof that the GOP would literally let you starve

All of this is established. All of this can be messaged against.

Their messaging should be simple:

"We're not reopening a government we think is fair. It's not a government that works for everyone but it's at least a government that won't let everyone starve. A government that will at least pay those we trust with our safety"

That said. If margin shrinks. Then it really is time for them to suit up for the party.

Endorsement during primary? Wayyy more important. At this stage? I don’t see the math given the polling

The only way they’d endorse is if they had a real primary challenger (but off year). Until then it’s wait and see.

He doesn’t need to. He’s also operating on a national level where mamdani doesn’t play as well as he does in NYC.

If he doesn’t say anything it doesn’t become a line of attack.

Plus mamdani doesn’t need it. So why make a play you don’t need to?

He started bootlicking immediately after the election. A lot of center/right dems pols and pundits did the same move. Maher having WH dinner. Newsom and his podcast.

If he says 10/7 he’s just using it as an excuse. Because there was a clear turn and it was well after.

Oh. I would not be shocked at all. I’ve seen it. It’s not just kids though. People aren’t taught how to critically think. Writing is thinking.

It’s also why I don’t hate the 5 paragraph format. Hate it all you want but it at least structures how to have coherent thoughts and a complete argument.

It has a purpose in the same way training wheels have a purpose.

And like training wheels, they really shouldn’t be used by people approaching mid to late teens.
