This is quite pervasive. I've posted about this before on other platforms, and the responses from UK-based people has been eye-opening. Makaton is widely perceived, and taken for granted, as a really good and positive thing there. It's even used in some popular kids' TV shows.

The bad news is that detainees have been treated worse than animals, forced to sleep in bathrooms, deprived of medicine, sufficient food & contact with legal council, but on Thursday the judge, lawyers & interpreters entered the Broadview facility.

Please don't put you off emailing someone who seems to have genuinely relevant interests! Those are really nice emails to get.

And it's not a terribly good idea to waste the time of people who may play some role in evaluating your application.

I mean, I haven't heard the broadcast but I'm glad they're talking to you—who presumably said sensible things about this—compared with a number of other options!
