Ignoring the pathetic, tragic jingoism of popping a bunch of nylon flags on the posts of road signage along a bypass, but these are such obvious hazards it should genuinely merit a national restraining order on the flag twats.

If you're in York, head down to St Helens Square for 1200 🚨TODAY 🚨 to join a big pro-trans rally. Get your raincoats on, get out and get loud - we'll be there, it would be great to see you there too! 💚🏳️‍⚧️

that's simply not true, and I suspect you are thinking of international rather than brutalist architecture

there's nothing cheap or unfinished about these:

People can and should have nice things.

If someone writes a report saying "we build transport that is too nice and that's why projects are expensive and that's why we don't build more of them" then not only should their analysis be discarded as junk but they should be pilloried.

"That's not possible, you can't do that. The trains have to run." Hauntingly similar conditions in Germany to those in Britain prior to the Hatfield rail disaster.

Dear friends in the EU: this is not inevitable, just as liberalisation is not a precursor to better railways.

Exeter St Davids, however, as one of the fastest growing stations in the country and the busiest in Devon, is looking tired. Lots of opportunities, but little in the way of action. It needs a full redevelopment as part of a long term masterplan.

To Barnstaple, that is... Talking of which, here's the scale of Junction station at the end of the nineteenth century:

I must say, the @gwr.com team on both legs up and back were lovely (I always love it when they catch up with the regulars) and the stations were looking tidy, smart and well loved. All credit to the GWR station teams and Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership.
