I ride bikes, write books about riding bikes (We Rode All Day, Walko, Koblet & Kubler and soon - We Rode All Night), wrote for The Road Book in 2024, I run a recruitment agency (theexample.co.uk) and suffer Everton FC.
Ugh yeah I’d rather not!

If Labour went after Paedophiles, they'd have a Rod Liddle article on why Paedos are misunderstood. Actually, he may already have written that...

and they're going to really push that message to save, what, a few pennies?

yeah I believe some schemes offer quite high thresholds, but the majority bought are from Halfords or similar

I will one day be back - I didn't get to do Box, but did Leith and White (?) and one other that just went on forever at 10%+ before ramping up to about 15%, at which point I just turned around

I only hate them because they're so bloody hard lol - foothills of the Chilterns far less demanding.

But yeah, it's ridiculous. I thought it was mostly the components but some frames are going for over £6k.

more people would buy bikes if it were safe to ride them, salary sacrifice scheme or not
November 18, 2025 at 1:45 PM
To be fair, if I were in charge of that lot, I'd elbow them out of the way.

There was a piece at the weekend about salary sacrifice being used to buy "£4,000 e-bikes that are only used at the weekend in the Surrey Hills".

My response was IT'S NOT AN E-BIKE AND I HATE THE SURREY HILLS <huff>

Ouch how much?
November 16, 2025 at 6:16 PM
Well... "growth" is a stretch, right.

I run a recruitment agency - this is the worst stretch I've known in any business. This last quarter is going to be way down (and largely because of the delay in the budget)

Concrete evidence...

This may not be very original, and might be quite crude, so I apologise to anyone who may be offended, but...

What a stupid fat fucker.

Freeports are not about making lives better. By definition.
November 11, 2025 at 6:52 PM
"6-month loan" - that's the Everton way
November 11, 2025 at 3:46 PM
That's right, men read books to get laid. Like, we're Hugh Grant and we're waiting for Julia Roberts to walk past and go "hey, I just LOVE the deconstruction of post-colonial patriarchy in that book, wanna shag?"

I knew a bunch of musicians when I was in Paris (and he was President) who ran the #SarkoTuSors community. It's a little too literal now.
