I think it's a case of bringing it up at the wrong place and time, plus an unpleasant attitude. There's no good reason to defend Nintendo's business practices anymore, but they still have talented developers putting out good games, and that's all that mattered to the discussion here.

I didn't realize this was about the Game Awards at first. I think it's fair to say that a publisher's business practices are worth taking into account when it comes to buying a game, but it's not something that should factor in at all when judging the quality of the game itself.
