Every day is a pitched battle between my cat's desire for an earlier breakfast and my desire for a lie-in.

Feeding them early to shut them up is always, ALWAYS, a phyrric victory.

Yes, and I was speaking more in general. Your mince pies are probably safe to eat cold. 🥧

As for the original issue, the packet instructions likely have more to do with standard test methods than customer convenience.

Anyway, enjoy!

So you have increasing temperature control. However, your target temperature is important. Too high and you may kick off unwanted reactions (maillard reaction), too low and you don't kill off certain bacteria. Some conventional ovens max out at 200-240 C. In all, the time is easiest to control.

Well now I have read up on air friers (gotta know now). Essentially a non-fan oven heats irregularly as stated. A fan/convection oven circulates the air to obtain a more even temperature. An air frier heats a smaller space faster (diff heater).

Simply dialling up the heat may work, but also gives the heat less time to spread to the core of the food, so you're more likely to overdo the outside and underdo the centre.

Hypothesizing here, but for most ovens, the target temperature is aspirational, and heating is toggled on and off at setpoints. As such, the actual temperature in the oven space may be lower, so the longer time is basically just a buffer to avoid crap old ovens causing food poisoning.

Watched it the other night. It was a great film, and basically the core story with everything dialled up to 11 and done in polished brass. Shelley would probably have raised an eyebrow at the addition of the final quote from Byron.

You're acting surprised that a stormtrooper was apparently wearing stormtrooper armour. I am surprised that he didn't immediately fall down a chasm with a Wilhelm Scream the moment it hit him.

He probably still thinks that was a punishment for them...

Agree. I might even go so far as to say that men with fragile egos do not like it when *anyone* gives them so much as a mild rebuke, but feel more able to lash out at a woman without fear of consequences.

"Carl, you're a genius!"

"A genius with access to unstable chemicals."

"These guys are nasty, please vote for us so we can imitate them poorly and performatively tinker around the edges of the old status quo that landed you in your current dystopia and that we played a significant part in establishing ... We totally get how hard it is not to have two properties."

It probably took a few prompts to remove the plutonium-laced cups of tea.

As a child I always thought Frollo was an odd villain, but I couldn't quite place why. It was only later that I realised that he was very, very real. "Heavens Light/Hellfire" boomeranged on me about a decade later.

Thank you for trawling through that dross so others/I didn't have to. 🫡

At least a couple of UKIP folks seem to have bought into it, though. The UKIP Southend candidate has set it as her FB profile pic. If it is disinformation, it has gone a bit ouroboros.

I see the lectern, but I have not seen any unveiling of the full logo. Do you have a source for that?
October 18, 2025 at 7:16 AM
I am not seeing any sources for this other than a single "GBPolitcs" (note spelling) account and a couple of stray FB accounts... Anything primary?

The above person is Raoul Wallenberg. It struck me that he looked a little bit like Miller... while being so far on the side of good that Miller would need two telescopes just to make him out.
October 8, 2025 at 3:44 PM
I mean, would you consider this person attractive?
October 8, 2025 at 3:38 PM
I mean, by the end you could argue that they were unimaginative guardians of the status quo who were eventually wiped out by a combination of a greater evil and their own hubris.
Perhaps he got what he wished for.
