An angry GenX gardener

I love gardening, baking, cooking and hygge vibes. I am happily married, don't bother messaging. Be respectful. This is a safe place for everyone. Don't want any bullshit, ain't got time for bullshit.
Starting November 1st, start building your supply storage. I know it'll be hard without SNAP, people not getting paychecks, but start with something as simple as a bag of dry beans.

I can attest to this. I am not gardening this year due to moving, and the urge is strong!

It's expensive being poor, but this is what they want - get buried so deep you can't dig out.

Before food inspection laws, many foods were adultered, misbranded and produced under unsanitary conditions to increase profit. Chalk was added to soured milk, milk was watered down, meat was labled as higher quality than it was, food was mixed with cheaper ingrediants to bolster profits and so on.

This is how I ended my week reprieve. On the beaches of Cancun and the Caribbean. Tomorrow, I go back to reality.

This is the vault that can repopulate every lost variety of seed currently known to man in the wake of a catastrophic event.

I wonder why this was so important to defund. Control the food. Control the people.

Increase your potato production and save space! Check with a local farmer for straw or hay. Most 2 string bales are around $8 - $10. Chicken wire is inexpensive, or even hardware cloth. Start low and build upwards as the stems grow.

Leave the dandelions as they are the 1st food for bees. Leave the leaves for those late sleepers. Leave the twigs for those little larvae. Leave it all. It will be there in May - or June.

Simple ideas for greens. Pro: The boxes will compost over time. Con: too much water or a heavy rain will flatten them over time.

You can also freeze fresh eggs in snack sizes bags, 1 or 2 per bag for easy measuring. These work great in quiche, scrambled, baking etc. Buy local if possible, support your community.

The leaves in the amaranth species are full of antioxidants, vitamins, and fiber. The plant seeds have been used to make heart-healthy grains and oil. It is a perennial.

Potatoes are nutrient dense and don't take up much space. Spinach is quick to grow and cold tolerant. Chard. Kale. Watercress. Bok Choy. Pumpkin. Any container works. Start planning now. Grow a small indoor garden and medicinal plants. Stay quiet.
