the final stage! once the excess patina is washed off with dawn soap, i allow the entire piece to dry. from there i polish it with a finishing compound. and FINALLY hang the piece from a metal chain to finish it off completely

before applying patina i’ll need to get the piece as clean as i can. the patina changes the solder color via a chemical reaction so the cleaner i can get the lines, the darker & cleaner my color will come out. i’ve washed it once already, ill now use very fine, steel wool, wash again, and then apply

okay finally done for tonight! cleaned it with my boi CJ’s! it removes the chemicals & oiliness left behind from the flux and makes the lines nice & shiny!

stage 2: front & back are all soldered. next i’ll do the outside border edge & smooth any other spots as needed. gloves (&heavy duty mask) are a must bc at the end of the day im using heavy duty chemicals

1st stage of soldering. basically want to make sure all of your joints (where diff. pieces of glass are touching) are soldered so you can safely remove the pins. looks messy now but well clean her up nice
