that same chemical biliverdin can sometimes lead to green puppies! in rare cases, bile enters the womb during gestation, staining the puppies fur. this eventually fades with time, but it sure is cute while it lasts!!! 🐶💚

not only do hydrangeas change color based on the ph of the soil, but those colorful petals are actually sepals (type of modified leaf) that mimic flower petals while still functioning as a leaf. the tiny little buds at the center of the sepals are the real flowers!
