20) Christine by Stephen King

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finally read my first King novel and of course I had to start with my favorite movie.

I quite enjoyed the book, it answered a lot of questions, also it was a lot gayer than I expected except for the end where I kind of lost interest, the ending just fizzled out.

19) But Not Too Bold by Hache Pueyo

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Well, it’s whimsical and strange. Didn’t make me feel much but it was okay.
Perfect for the people who had a crush on the Spider lady from Jim and the giant peach.

18) Someone You Can Build a Nest In by Josh Wiswell

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A beautiful and gruesome fairytale that stole my heart.
It’s not perfect but oh I loved it.
Being a human shaped thing in a world full of confusing, complicated and sometimes horrifying humans is something that feels close to my heart.

17) Killer Potential by Hannah Deitch

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lesbians, road-trips, and crime.

I loved the writing in this, the story kept me hooked the whole way through, and the themes of potential and expectation hit hard.

Highly Recommend

16) The Magnus Archives: Season 2 by Jonathan Sims

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I went back and listened to season 1 all over again before getting to this one and oh, I’m just falling more and more in love with it.

15) The Only One Left by Riley Sager

⭐️⭐️⭐️

It started okay, I was intrigued. Then it got to certain reveal and it just lost me. I still finished it but it plummeted by the end.
That last chapter straight up felt like a joke.

14) Everything is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistence of Our Deadliest Infection by John Green

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It was a fascinating read and a subject I will definitely read more on. Nice to add something else to my usual fascination for poisons and criminal psychology.

13) Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wanted to get this one down before I saw the movie, now I’m more excited than ever.

I loved it, it’s so different from what I expected. The writing, the symbolism, the drama, the subtext!

This one goes to my list of favorite classics.

12) Make Sure You Die Screaming by Zee Carlstrom

⭐️

I don’t know how to explain it but this book feels like an industry plant.
Feels like a conservative’s idea of what the liberals are.

With that title I was expecting the church scene from Kingsmen but all I got was messy and infuriating bullshit

11) The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rewatched the show and decided to finally pick up the original. I’m so glad I did, this book will always have such a special place in my heart.

10) Brighter than Scale, Swifter than Flame by Neon Yang

⭐️⭐️

At times this book felt like an insult to my intelligence, I swear.

I really wanted to like it, the vibes from the cover were amazing but no luck.

9) Ring Shout by P. Djèlí Clark

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Holy shit! This book is right next to The Salt Grows Heavy on my list of favorite books of all time.

Perfect for fans of Sinners and The Magnus Archives

10/10 Highly Recommend

I need a movie asap

8) Nothing But Blackened Teeth by Cassandra Khaw

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finally got around to reading another book by the author of my favorite book of all time but sadly this one didn’t hit the mark for me.
Still interesting but it didn’t stick the landing.
September 17, 2025 at 8:56 AM
7) A History of Fear by Luke Dumas

⭐️⭐️⭐️

I don’t want to be mean but this author is about as good at hiding plot twists as an elephant hiding behind a lamppost.

I wanted to like it, it sounded so interesting but not a single plot twist hit the mark, not even one. Still entertaining though.

6) William Bonin: The True Story of The Freeway Killer by Jack Rosewood

⭐️⭐️

It wasn’t a particularly well written account of the case, it felt more like a school project than a true crime book but it’s what I get for picking it at random.

5) Don’t Let the Forest In by C.G.Drews

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My bestie gave me this book and it is just so gorgeous that I highly recommend getting a physical copy.
The story was beautiful, unhinged, sad, and just perfect for me.

Highly recommend

4) The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After such a shitty and disappointing book series I needed to reward myself by rereading my favorite book.

Gory and beautiful as always. I love this book beyond words.

3) Greywaren by Maggie Stiefvater

⭐️

It took me 3 months to get through this book. I swear it was like pulling teeth. Lazy, predictable, tonally inconsistent, and full of unbearable and unlikeable characters.
I’ll pretend I never read these and continue loving the original series.
September 17, 2025 at 8:35 AM
2) The Magnus Archives by Jonathan Sims

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m reading the transcripts as I listen to the podcast and ohhhhhh I can tell this is gonna be a new favorite for me. I’m so unbelievably in for this ride!!!
Straight up got new headphones to hear this better.
September 17, 2025 at 8:32 AM
1) Mister Impossible by Maggie Stiefvater

⭐️⭐️

This book felt like 90% yapping and about 10% plot.

I adored the first book series but this one just got on my nerves.

I just started listening to The Magnus Archives for the first time and since my attention is shot to shit, I sometimes use the transcript function to read along as I listen.
I was starting episode 14 when I noticed this
Is it a glitch, an editing error, an Easter egg?
