Yes, I too recently got two from the same journal within 2-3 days. I’ve also been recommending rejection more. Maybe I’m just getting old and more discerning/grumpy but more should probably be desk rejected

Recently had a proposal rejected to do work along these lines. I’m curious to follow this as I think there’s lots of work still to be done.
