Some cards have a Star icon.This icon means you could not use that card with another card with a Star icon to get a greater discount so you could not place a worker on the Inn and use Trail Guide to get a total of -6 resources however you could place a token on the Inn to play a Red Critter for free

Farshore is another stand alone game in the Everdell world. The play can be a little more challenging for those not used to Everdell (in my opinion).

We also love the original game and all it's expansions.. My wife and another designer (Rob Bell) created a very challenging solo called Nightweave.

I would say Farshore (which we also did the solo). It is a stand alone so you don't need to invest in a bunch of expansions. We also designed the solos to play with two humans as a third player. It is a good intro to teach mechanics while still competitive.

One of ours was Encounter. We all watch Monsters baseball and like to see where they are playing
