Gig economy is changing this in Sweden (at least). When I moved here five years ago there was zero tipping. Now, due mostly to Uber/Bolt/Doordash/etc, you are now confronted with tip options on most POS terminals and you won't get the "chase you down" vibe if you comply. *sigh*

Pretty much a scene out of my weekly D&D game.

Lol. Yeah, because the game wasn't designed for it. On the other hand you CAN use the intervening decades to design a game that captures the FEEL of the old days but also uses egaging mechanics. Shadowdark is the mutli-award winning hotness all the cool kids are excited about. :)
