Apple 🍎 execs should use the lowest spec iPhones so they can experience the travesty that is the “storage” feature in order to upgrade to the next iOS.
1. Why no select all?
2. Why not SHA checksum the graphics to avoid duplicating them a hundred times?

Storage feature on iOS 18 (which I must use to upgrade to iOS 26) is missing select all option in some screens. It also makes it obvious that not enough space saving efforts have been made, as the same graphics in messages are stored hundreds of times instead of once.

- kettle-dvcs will setup locally federated git remotes under a multi-push "all"
- kettle-dvcs --status will help you remember at a glance if remote work needs to be upstreamed
- simply run `git push all` to send everywhere

Q: Just how screwed is @GitHub, legally, for failing to address a security issue they acknowledged in 2022, and which is teaching users to behave recklessly on the internet?

A: Wrecked.

I don't think devs should be doing either of these.

If user's are trained to accept as fact the descriptions shown outside of the place where permissions are actually assigned, they behave in a less secure manner going forward.

I take the message to mean "This app has requested write permissions" and if any website were telling me otherwise my default response would be not to trust that information but instead go looking for answers. Perhaps 30 minutes later finding this thread and discovering the message doesn't actually mean "act" and the whole thing is a UX issue.

Agreed. The recommended solution should be to boycott GitHub, and vote with our feet. Teaching users insecure, dangerous behavior is negligent in a similar way to how Tesla was just fined $243 million for negligence in teaching their users (drivers) about the safety of their tools, and using misleading language.

This isn't very different, and I expect GitHub's legal team is only OK with this because they are not aware of how this exact thread could be used in court to prove their liability.

Rescued a baby bird that fell out of the nest yesterday. I hope the momma doesn’t mind the tissue paper, as I was wearing gloves and extremely high up in a fairly weak tree, and couldn’t get the bits back.
