I guess it was inevitable with the rise of social media and the splintering and undermining of traditional media. They used to get a lot of flak for bad science reporting, with some exceptions.
To point out the obvious, it also shows how badly served people are by secondary school science classes.

It's very sad to hear this. He played tennis at our local court once, which was our ice rink in winter, of course. He gave out autographs, but mine is long gone. Other players from the Canadiens would show up and play frontier to time. Somehow, I missed them.

I've concluded that they are simply willfully being ignorant. They just want to cling to their beliefs regardless of evidence. They have made it so important to them that they can not do otherwise.
God is about them - anything else is unbearable. Such a shame and waste of potential.

My friend tells a great story about having the bejesus scared out of him by one of these while he was checking out a campsite. Complete with flapping arms and scarifying sounds. Hilarious to watch!
This one wouldn't move out of the way for our truck and tralier a couple of years ago.
