Messing about with a camera, mostly. Ex-Emergency Physician, now doing a job with waterways (bit like Cardiovascular medicine, really). Music, books, dancing, dancing to music.
Although no longer in the NHS, I still enjoy reading such balanced words.
Calls like this can also end up with ambulance staff walking into rooms where the “patient” is heavily armed with a large knife, or is agitated enough to cause injury (both of which happened to my husband, ending his career)

And it’s getting worse. Disgusting.
First Angela Rayner, then Jess Phillips, now Rachel.
I hope that women in this country are waking up & seeing what’s happening & turn against voting for any party that the right wing media wants & that means Reform & Tories. Starmer needs to call the media out too.

It’s been very, very clear from the start of this govt that female Labour MPs are the targets of the moment. Faces that don’t fit are being forced out.

Half a King by Joe Abercrombie for 14? (If not already read)

“Oh no. It only applies to people we don’t like (you know… the Others)”

I’d be as worried about the first judge who gets their family threatened (physically, politically etc) unless a verdict goes a certain way.

I can only assume that she doesn’t have anyone close to her who walks this path every minute of their life.
Of if she does, they have cut her off

With the amount of attitude they have, I’m glad they’re only that size. Ours order us round the garden at nesting time and we had one that hung round the kitchen window when the feeders were empty

Or “politician”, for the most part.

I suspect there will be round of “poor me” interviews, and probably a book.

If the point being made was about AI & people only seeing what they want to see, then it was sailed past and is long over the horizon.
If true, then to be applauded

I was the same age: they appeared in a local charity shop. I did v much enjoy them, but always baulked at re-reading, and DNF the more recent ones.
The better find from the same shop was The Many Coloured Land by Julian May. Those have been re-read until falling apart.

But I also see it as part of a world which cannot accept that loss is part of the richness human life. The same world that can advertise an AI avatar of someone after they died.

That “not the end” is precisely the reason I don’t like the ambiguity.
Too many times in my career, I’ve been asked “what do you mean, they’ve died?” In the heat of the moment. To use the euphemism seeds even more confusion.

And many of us were only worried about getting home in time for tea without a clip round the ear’ole in the 70s.
