Many of the diplomacy scenes in MS, for me, were not as interesting as GS either. All in all for me GS was a much better book and I expected more from the final book (in the first trilogy)

While interesting, Darrow fell too far at the end of Golden Son and it stopped all momentum from book 2-3. Also not too much happened in MS other than recruiting obsidians. The action packed rising I felt I was promised never came to be. The book came to such an abrupt end. Action was better in GS.
