I’ve had to DNF three books in a row this week, and I hate that. I love reading indie authors, but it’s getting to the point where every book reads the same. So here’s a list of what I wish books would stop doing. -

There’s no one crueler to artists than other artists. At an event for artisans and I’m a sculptor. I’ve found sculpting cute things is the most annoying thing to “real sculptors”. Sigh. Can we just stop this already?

My cat has IBD and it’s been a struggle to get him to eat. The last year he lost so much weight. But thankfully after forever researching and trying different things, today I got him to eat, in one sitting, as much as he eats in a day. A huge win today!

Might I make a suggestion… cancel your subscriptions. Let’s all be honest, when was the last time an actually well written show came out anyway? For the cost you pay your subs you could get a couple of books a month and if we’re all being honest those will be way more entertaining than tv.

I will never like books that the masses like I swear. And that’s okay but if I read a book and love it and then check reviews and the book is review bombed because it was written by a British author and the main complaint is “there’s too many characters” or “I can’t keep things straight” (1/2)

Normalize, stopping mid sentence when you realize they aren’t listening. If they can’t care enough to listen, they don’t deserve your attention or time.

So following weather is kind of a mini hobby for me (yes, might be lame to some but I love it) and is climate change happening, yes, but if I see one more person online saying “these weather patterns are so strange something else HAS to be going on”. It’s a cold front Diane not weather machines.

I’ve been reading so many fall and winter themed books just to take my mind off the summer. It’s so hot here. I wish it was fall already.

How proud these ppl are when they say “zero” is exactly why we have a maga and empathy problem in this country.

This is the new book I’m reading, and I just can’t help smiling the whole way through. This is my second book by Sarah Beth Durst and I love her writing and world. It’s like a warm hug in book form. @sarahbethdurst.bsky.social

I truly believe a lot of things in life could be solved if we all just read more. Not everything of course, but there is a reason why the human race is lacking in empathy at the same time the literacy rate it in the toilet.

With everything going on in the world, and with how depressing it is, I can sometimes forget to give thanks for the little things. Today I’m especially grateful to be blessed with the fact that when I finish a book, I have such an extensive tbr list of books waiting on my shelves.

Anti-intellectualism comes from a place of fear and inadequacy. Instead of working on themselves, they lash out at what they don’t understand. Seek to understand, not tear down.

I dream of disappearing, of running so far no one can find me, but then I remember, who am I kidding, I’ve been gone for so long, and no one has ever bothered to come find me.

Love how book tok idiots make fun of Irish names, as if American names aren’t cringy and stupid as hell. As a person of Irish descent who would have named my daughter Aoife if I had one, y’all just make yourself look like idiots confessing you can’t pronounce something.

Just finished “Long Live Evil.” I loved it. It was hilarious. Saw a bunch of comments by young Gen Z saying the book was cringe millennial. Nice to know Gen z are still on their puritanical kick of hating everything that is fun.

pushing AI is so interesting because the ppl who be are clearly just trying to kill creativity and creators. It makes sense. Artist and creatives have always been the ones who refuse to “fit in”. They can’t have their sheep as long as creativity and creatives are allowed to exist.

Fellow humans… what keeps you alive? Today more than ever I need to know what keeps ppl going when you’re all alone?

Called my grandmother to tell her happy Mother’s Day today and she thought she turned the phone off and said to my uncle, that I’ll never own a home. Which is hilarious considering she only owns hers because she gets money from my granddads pension in the divorce settlement. Boomer logic though.
