Sometimes social media language comes in handy. Thinking about how to shorthand the difference between Latin's demonstrative pronouns and ended up with hic, haec, hoc ('this, these' [nearer]), ille, illa, illud ('that, those,' [farther]) and iste, ista, istud ('that, those' [derogatory]).

Gandalfs magic is the opposite of occult. It states pre-existing, but previously unknown, spiritual truths to the physical world, whiich then conforms to those truths.

The opposite of “occult” is “revelation.”

And I suppose while we're at it, Latin makes the same warrior/soldier distinction as English does. Roman soldiers are milites ('soldiers,' etymologically 'men in units') but never bellatores ('warriors') except in poetry, a word otherwise restricted to mythical heroes, gods and barbarians.
