Hi Christina. I've checked our email server logs closely and can't find any attempt to deliver that message. I have contacted the minister's office asking them to try again. Sometimes if a message contains classification keywords, a government system called SEEMail will block sending. ^OL

31 years later, 79 years since the scheme began, Toka Tū Ake – Natural Hazards Commission says their new name "better reflects the range of natural hazards we provide cover for, including tsunami, landslides, volcanic activity, earthquakes and geothermal activity."

The scheme continued with minor changes for 48 years until reforms in the 80s and in 1993 the Earthquake and War Damage Commission was renamed Earthquake Commission.

Toka Tū Ake's natural hazards history starts in 1945 when the War Damage Commission became the Earthquake and War Damage Commission. This was after some big earthquakes - Napier in 1931 and Wairarapa in 1942.

PSC has advised us of the preferred address.

You can make OIA requests to Ministry for Regulation at fyi.org.nz/body/ministr...

After six months of inactivity they will receive a bounce message explaining what to do.

This is purely an anti-spam measure. We will always reopen an address when asked.

For several reasons we don't usually publish responses we didn't receive direct from the agency. But please email help@fyi.org.nz and we'll try to help.

There are thousands of agencies required to respond to requests for official information and there is no complete official list of all of them. Using legal names allows us to keep track of many of them.

You could say we have a real names policy .. but only for agencies!

This approach makes it easier to maintain our database. It's impossible to keep track of every rebrand or restructure across thousands of organisations.

But it is possible to monitor legislation and keep track of changes to registers like the Companies Register.

Other agencies have business units or services with their own brand identity. Again, to help you find the right agency we put those in the notes if we know about them.

A common example is Immigration NZ, part of MBIE. fyi.org.nz/body/mbie

Many agencies use a very different name day-to-day. We put those names in notes to help you find the right agency.

The Real Estate Agents Authority have rebranded themselves the "Real Estate Authority." We continue to use their statutory name, with a note. fyi.org.nz/body/rea

For example, Kāinga Ora's statutory name is "Kāinga Ora–Homes and Communities" from the Kāinga Ora–Homes and Communities Act 2019. So that's what we use, and will continue to use until the legislation changes.

We're non-partisan, so better not exclude team blue!

Remarkably, the Beehive website is still down after more than a week. But the predicted email addresses now appear to be working, and we'll keep a close eye out for delivery problems.

Sorry, not at this time. There are extra considerations to do with provenance. You could re-request a copy of the same response, though.
