Present for it's 5th day. Not seen on this occasion. Heard giving a few calls initially. Forty minutes later it began calling regularly for a minute or so.

Wow! A beast of a bird in the flesh.

Reserves manager Aidan was on BBC Look East last night with a clear warning about the impact of dogs off leads on nature, livestock and people. The piece featured stories from volunteers and the public about distressing dog incidents they have witnessed at Pegsdon Hills reserve in Bedfordshire.

FIRECREST: Spurn, East Yorkshire early morning 020525 - close to the old Blue Bell pub. Singing its heart out. If you can't love a fire-capped king you ain't got no soul. A real beauty.

Spurn Bird Obs, Church Field. Trapped and released late AM. Rather vocal and showed nicely in the same area early PM. Two in less than a fortnight can't be bad.

Redpoll over Tesco Beverley. 😳

UK’s first Stilt Sandpiper: 1954, Yorkshire, Kilnsea, adult, 31st August to 4th September. A mere 70yrs later, almost to the day, Mr. John Hewitt gets his just reward. It seems lightning can strike twice! The crowd at Spurn’s second Stilt Sand.
