Can anyone point me in the direction of a c3d reader for matlab that works on iOS? I’m currently going round in circles…

K.I.S.S. And R.T.F.Q.are my most frequent acronyms for my students these days. Everyone loves to overcomplicate things!

I am of the mindset that inclusion of diverse participants (barring necessary scientific justification e.g. exclusion of cis men from a pregnancy study) should be a requirement for journal publication these days. I hope as a field we can start to enact this!

Why are people still attempting to publish science conducted on men only, when there is NO SCIENTIFIC JUSTIFICATION for it in the research question? Is this grounds for immediate rejection?

Hi new Bluesky users 👋 I sometimes post about science (biomechanics), lab activity, or fun shareable info. Here’s me teaching on my treadmill!

Today has been an escapade but my treadmill is in the lab!! Cameras go up next week. It’s coming together finally!!!

First data collection as PI kicks off next week! Fingers crossed for no issues & that we can submit some data to ASB in a month 🤞

Trying to organize the research thoughts into something coherent and fundable is so fun 🙃 Funding agencies: can’t you just take my mind map and say ✅ or 🚫? #grantwriting #science

Reading up on heart rate variability for state anxiety…ended up in the forest bathing literature 😅 never ceases to amaze me just how interdisciplinary biomechanics is. You never know where you’re going to end up!

LPT: binaural beats for focus helps with getting in the zone writing. Just press play while writing and not while you’re having a brain break on IG else you focus there instead 🙃

Easing back into science this week by catching up on all the interesting papers I added to my “TBR”. Less fun: also dealing with the business side of getting funding 🙃 we’re scientists not accountants!

2024: the year of grant writing. You heard it here first 😬🤞

Biggest ego boost: give research talk to Mom 🥰 I’ve never felt more smart or accomplished!

My consent form got returned by IRB for being at 10th grade reading level, not 8th grade. It's so hard to pitch it appropriately when I didn't go to school here! I was reading Gone with the Wind at 14 sooooo

Loving the biomechanists joining here. I've missed academic twitter - here's hoping we can cultivate the same sci-comm, discussion-generating, welcoming and accepting space here!

I made the mistake of making the final assignment in my undergrad biomechanics class a white paper. The mistake comes in asking them to use JoB reference style (with the link to the style for Zotero). Why does every other prof use MLA?!

Well, I did it. IRB submitted! A few more hours left and then adventure time!

2 weeks left in the semester and it's hard to tell who's crawling towards the finish line more...faculty or students? I WILL submit this IRB before the end of next week though

Moving from one type of grading system to another is SO CHALLENGING. Almost 8 years of the US system later and I still want a 70+ to be an A. Guess you can take the Brit out of England but you can't take the English education system out of the Brit!

Save a whole day for grant writing because you've been on a roll recently...aaaaand writers block. Formatting and citation management it is.
