MAGA = GOP/conservatism. Always has, especially since the Civil Rights Era when cons went nuts b/c other ppl besides straight, white, male christians started to actually gain some civil rights & social opportunities/acceptance.

Problem is, MAGA & the christian theocrats are trying to take us back to before the child rights movement of the early 1900's when the age of consent in the US was 10-12 in every damn state (save Delaware where it was 7).

I think candidates should have at least 120 IQ mandatory, proven by school records. The office, & modern world, is simply too complex for even high average people to be in charge of a nation. This "anyone can be potus" is killing us, & has given us moron GOP presidents since Reagan (except Bush Sr).

Another thing, of course, is the EC which is heavily tilted in GOP favor. And then there's voters suppression in various forms, and low voter turnout.
In all likelihood, we haven't had a legitimate GOP potus since 1988 with Bush Sr. (Bush Jr didn't win, nor did T in '16 & probably '24 was rigged).

I'm firmly in the skepticism about moral responsibility/character camp: most of what we are & do is not up to us.
That's why it's hard for me to hate: yes, I even have a measure of sympathy for monsters like T b/c they're obviously suffering so much & much of the reason why is not their fault. 1/

Let's not forget the veneration of the the vile Liz too. She's every bit the monster her dad is; she just doesn't have the power to execute her nefarious plans (yet). Just another empty opportunist who only FINALLY rejected T when it seemed politically expedient to do so (after the insurrection).

She voted with T 90%+ of the time & only FINALLY dropped him when it seemed clear that he was politically done (the insurrection). NOT b/c of integrity, but b/c of political opportunism. She wants to be fascist in chief herself. She's an empty opportunist.

The GOP has been a minority party since the 90's; only non-voters, voter suppression, gerrymandering, & a electoral map heavily tilted in their favor has made it seem like they've been an actually viable party since.
