I’ll never be able to be normal about Jhonen or Johnny.

I floated home!!!

...and did it by hand instead of using a curve. I think this was actually better -- the resulting path was more twisty and felt more fun to ascend.

Tomorrow, I want to look at making the river "flow" and push the player away from the exit.

...it will have things floating down it and you jump from one to the other to traverse it? Unclear which will be more fun!

I also finally figured out what the river should be! I think it'll be a floating river, and you need to find a trigger to "freeze" it to walk on it. So, jump up floating islands to get to the river and then walk on it to get to the outside to get to the goal.

And, honestly, that's kinda the vibe I'm going for! Though I don't plan on implementing a portal gun...

Someone IRL asked me what I do for fun this week and I explained I like working on games. They asked what I was working on and I said:
"It's a puzzle-platformer about a raccoon who sneak's in wizards' pocket dimensions to steal stuff."

I think that's a pretty good summary? They said, "Like Portal?"

I also modeled a little bottle. I'm pretty happy with the texture too -- I'm trying to learn procedural shading in Blender, and this was a first attempt. It's supposed to be the one of the items the raccoon is looking to steal.

A hill on which I will die: Calvin and Hobbes is one of the great pieces of 20th-century American literature in no small part because it was never turned into anything aside from a comic strip. Leave it be.

Blizzards successes were all just improving on existing games (i say as someone who worked on starcraft 2, diablo 3 and 4, heroes of the storm). It's the way of business, and of art!

Also good #gamedev advice in general: If you're inspired by some games or a similar game already exist - Don't just take inspiration from the good parts, but the deficiencies and flaws as well! There you'll find opportunity to stand out.
