For no particular reason, I'm thinking this morning about the story in the Bible about how King Nebuchadnezzar set up a massive golden idol of himself and eventually had all his power stripped away from him and went feral in the desert for seven years

I think I suffer from Stockholm syndrome with big books. I rarely come out of reading one hating it.

This is in a nutshell why "Christian" nationalism is not Christian. Because it prioritises some city of earth over the city of God, which is universal and free to people of every tribe and tongue.

I inserted a line from T.S. Eliot's "the waste land" in my thesis chapter draft on Dostoevsky, and I suddenly feel like I am on cloud nine and getting nostalgic flashbacks to my undergrad days writing my essay on this masterpiece of a poem.

OK, but why do Dostoevsky's female characters deal with love the way Taylor Swift's songs do?

I have been silent on social media lately, just because I have found it hard to speak or write. The things I want to say... well, I feel like I can only pray about right now or talk to others in person, and sharing lightly about the other stuff feels a bit frivolous at the moment
