4 Tips for writing a Mantagonist. Specify his Weewee. Does he have one? Is it big? This will be the most foundational touchpoint for your readers. We should be introduced to his weewee in the opening paragraph. Don’t forget that it moves according to his emotional state! Keep him Relatable. Writing a man as the main character is a bizarre choice, so it’s important to ground him in relatable experiences to keep your readers invested. Dresses with pockets, never walking home at night, crocheting gifts for his friends, etc. Don’t Leave him Alone. Men don’t know what to do without women. If left to his own devices, your protagonist will naturally lack direction. Ensure at least one woman is present in every scene to help him keep up with the plot. The golden ratio is 1 man : 9 women. Avoid Common Man Tropes. Not EVERY man pees himself in public or shoots up a Walmart.
