Interestingly, in the prepper community (that I am not a part of) and the combatives community (that I am in a weird way), a refrain is that "no one is coming". In context, this is even more heartbreaking. That said, I am REALLY with you on the connections.

It was such a great example of how we have ceased addressing the same things. Example of cruelty too. To call that sermon "nasty" and etc. wasn't just tone deaf. The pardons are equally chilling, for me, as it seems to both signal and cement how far they're willing to go.

With no acknowledgement, let alone discussion, about the cruelty which is so obvious. The self-centeredness is a little more subtle, so could almost be charitable about that but . . . the cruelty? No way that should be missed.
