"They cut down trees to build psychiatric hospitals for people who went crazy because of the cutting down of trees." - Douglas Adams, if I remember correctly :)

I have Bad News: we are not the French. We are bloated, self-facing, too comfortable, uneducated, unaware, have no epistemology or bandwidth.

If we are to resist, we had better get our houses in order.

As a therapist, martial arts coach, person… I am always interested in the Best Version of a thing. Particularly in the ise of language.

We’re really using ‘Czar’ like it is both that, and ‘normal’?

As has been said, we paid for this data, and for these programs, with our taxes. They belong to us. The Dems need to start doing their jobs, and stop being toothless.
No one's blaming Democrats for causing this crisis, but yes, many of them are failing to meet this moment.

One Democratic senator could bring the chamber to a halt. House Dems can go to fed agencies being gutted by Musk with cameras in tow. Governors can push back. State AGs can bring lawsuits.

I am fond of suggesting that the ‘universe’ is trying to teach us physics.

Almost as immediate: we are all soon to learn a whole lot about civics.

A new era of government censorship has begun.
It started with the silencing of scientific speech, when the admin blocked release of research on bird flu. But MAGA has also cracked down on other wrongthink—on race, geography (!), and of course Trump himself

Opinion | A new era of government censorship has dawned
Donald Trump fancies himself a champion of free speech. Oh, really?

This sums it up very nicely. Call representatives directly. Use Resistbot. Send some of the names she drops money. Start a discussion group. Art and punk rock time.

A client and I were talking today about how the strategies being employed by very public bad actors are almost indistinguishable from the way violators in domestic and other types of violent circumstances operate.

When I worked in (psych) hospitals, I saw them as bigger versions of family systems and how they operate. The nation is arguably much the same way. we understand problems differently, and communicate poorly. We have no epistemology. We need to talk about talking. What are your other suggestions?

The below has been reposted for all the self-facing and shortsighted people the last two days who have told me they voted for Trump because it makes every American safer.

Sergeant Gonell @sergeantaqgo.bsky.social sent me this picture. This is his call log. Each call is an automated Dept of "Justice" notification saying "The defendant you testified against is being released from the dept of corrections."
Each defendant assaulted him.

A good place to start . . . I strive for the Joseph Campbell suggestion to ". . . always connect.", and want to.

I am though, suspicious of our skill in doing so, as we seem to have lost (or sorely lack) the capacity for epistemology/critical thinking, and saying what we mean/meaning what we say.
