I've definitely held off buying a computer because I knew they'd be getting cheaper.

But I'm also just repeating economic conventional wisdom, not saying it's mostly correct or anything.

It's a feedback loop. If prices are going down, people hang onto their money because it'll be worth more tomorrow. Then prices have to go down more to get people to spend and the loop continues. The Fed can't really do anything to stop it, like they can with inflation.
