There’s little cartoon frogs in the other versions of the game hidden throughout the levels, but the 3DS version replaces them with Yoshi dolls and he makes his SNES Yoshi sound when you shoot them

One odd thing I’ve noticed is that for me (in the UK) the MK7 tracks have their names from the American English localisation instead of the European one. Other things (MK8, Streetpass Plaza) have used the European names as they ought to

This game is incredible (although you will have to build up a tolerance for weird sexualisation). It manages to combine basically every common sci-fi trope lovingly into a totally original story, with storytelling only a video game could do

Octopath Traveler II
I liked OT1 but bounced off this one at launch because doing all the chapter 1s is so so slow. Picked it up again a few days ago and I’m managing to tolerate the Chapter 1s this time.

Octopath Traveler II
I liked OT1 but bounced off this one at launch because doing all the chapter 1s is so so slow. Picked it up again a few days ago and I’m managing to tolerate the Chapter 1s this time.

The two exclamation marks are mandatory. Maybe my favourite MK, rivalling 8 Deluxe. Whimsical vibes are immaculate, character items are so fun, and so is the fact that the L on Luigi’s hat on the cover is the wrong way around!

I don’t own many special editions but I found the special edition of this game available cheaply and bought it on impulse. I don’t know anything about the game and years later I still haven’t played it. But by all accounts it’s pretty good so there you go

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D
Before the Switch had some miracle ports the 3DS had this, presumably not the best way to play MGS3 but a perfectly good way, the only way I’ve played it, and the way with the most Yoshis. Also did some cool tricks with the 3D which was rare

Probably my most valuable physical game? The lack of a subtitle, and that large USK logo, show that this is the Special Edition- now the only legal way to play Revelation. Story is dreadful but Conquest’s gameplay is incredible, only Engage comes close
