Priest. I don't take social media seriously, and my low-effort posts prove it. Decentralize the Internet.

I can't believe it's an American. A Chicago boy.

If you think you know what's going on at a Conclave, the reality is that you have no idea.

I would be sad for the world to lose "Pierbattista Pizzaballa" should he be chosen but really, there is no one on earth who should get to select their own name more.

At first glance, it might look like "++Pierbattista Pizzaballa" means "Pizza Ball," or, as I've adopted, "Pizza Baller," summoning the image of a man playing basketball with a pizza.

In reality, his last name means "Pizza Dance," which is even worse than anything you've concocted in your own head.

Yet more centralization with the verification feature. Truly, Old Twitter is back.

Ahh, Lynch's "Elephant Man" is so beautiful. Been a long time since I engaged a piece of art and said, "I'm a better human being for having seen that."

Annual post about how the tax code lumps diocesan priests into a tax code that only makes sense for Protestant ministers.

Well, it's the second half and the Bears haven't embarrassed us yet, so at least there's that.

As much as I like to rag on Bluesky for not decentralizing, don't sleep on what others have built to fill some gaps.
Hi all! We had some downtime for Bluesky => fediverse last night, starting 10:15p PT, and fediverse => Bluesky this morning 7-10a PT ish. We've worked through the backlog and should be back to normal now. Sorry for the trouble!

Not feeling well, so rewatching Tarkovsky's brilliant "Stalker." Nothing like befuddling movies to heal what ails.

Hah, and you think your Amazon order is delayed.

What do I miss living south of I-80? One thing, and precisely one thing only: good hot dogs. These murmurs of a Portillo's coming to the county haven't amounted to anything yet.
This is a rich text.

Also, I’m kind of hungry for a hot dog.

Bluesky just received massive funding from a crypto financier, so uh... that's gotta not be good.

The White Sox have lost their 120th game, tying the '62 Mets for the most ever.

It's been a long road, but I knew they could do it. The record will be all theirs this week.

Congratulations on these very centralized (cough) efforts.
This is a big quarter for Trust and Safety here, as we work on a large number of improvements.

Here’s a look at our projects in progress, including ban evasion and multi-account detection capabilities, toxicity and spam detection, sending feedback on moderation reports you submit, and more.

Amazing, how the White Sox's best pitcher makes them even worse: his pitch count is limited due to age/experience, so out he goes in the 2nd inning, and in comes one of the worst bullpens ever devised.

It's an auto-loss, every time.

How everyone ought to view this team: I wouldn't be surprised if you're statistically more likely to get struck by lightning than to ever witness a team this bad again. A cause for joy.
Excited to see the historic Chicago White Sox in person

Well earned, unfortunately. I loved the story outline, but an absolute masterclass in bad writing and lore development. Give the rest of the story to a competent author for a novel, please. I'd read it.

Clarefontaine paper is just the best. I've scrawled across some pretty good stuff, but nothing beats it. Pencils, pens, whatever.

Saw "Twisters." Good gravy, if this storm frequency were reality, Oklahoma would be totally destroyed. That fantasy is going a little too far, even for a Nebraska boy.
