The Marie Antoinette exhibition at the @vamuseum.bsky.social is everything that I wanted it to be, in all its glorious, extravagant, smelliness.

The wonder that is Carcassonne. I do love a medieval walled city.

Some nice stained glass from the Strasbourg Cathedral. An incredible building, and I’m not easily impressed by churchy stuff.

Lit a candle for my mum, who never travelled to Europe but would have loved it too.

Popped into the NGV to see the Kimono exhibition. Loved these styles by Poiret, Callots Soeurs, Liberty and McQueen plus an embroidered kimono I would wear the heck out of.

Just finished @karinslaughter.com 'We Are All Guilty Here' and trust me, if you like crime fic, you'll love this one.

Karin's created a rich, detailed world: a family dynasty, a small town full of possibilities. At it's heart lies a big family secret. Top marks to audio narrator Kathleen Early.

My next free library talk is on Wednesday, September 17th at Nunawading Library. As the Spring Racing Carnival approaches, I'll be looking at the history of Melbourne racewear in all its glory.

Hope you can make it - bookings essential.

Seen in a shop window in Moonee Ponds.

The notice is strange and intiguing, poetic, even. Who is Clementine? What happens if you don’t go to bed? What happens if you do?

All becomes clear when reading more notices, but the romance has gone.

Sneak Peek day at Arden station, North Melbourne. Brand new train station! Everyone has turned out for it, despite the rain. Good work @ptv-official.bsky.social can’t wait for it to be open.

Vale Terence Stamp, one of the greats.

On Saturday, Terence had a cameo in my talk on '60s fashion at Mornington Library: he amiably played handsome date to Jean Shrimpton at her big Aussie moment at Flemington Races in 1965.

Travel safely Terence: you will be missed.

So #jjjhottest100 is off and running and the lower reaches are already full of great material - surprised the Bad Seeds didn't do better with 'Red Right Hand', it's a powerhouse track coming in at a dismal number 98. This promises to be quite the ride.
