Got the OCD as a maladaptive coping mechanism for a bunch of other stuff.

First harvest of peach season. Every branch with peaches on is overloaded and breaking or broken... There's no point in actually picking the things, just shake the branch and rake up the windfalls...

Also, I should note that it's so hot here in Canberra right now that the dog who is partially solar powered does not want to be outside in the sun.

He also forgave me pretty quickly for the bath.

Please mama, if I do a very good sit you won't make me go in the bath?

Also, a harvest.

Added a couple of strawberries and used the caramelised fig balsamic vinegar I brought back from NZ instead of the lemon juice and honey. Totally worth it. There's one apricot left on the tree and that's it for this season.

Apricot season and a tree in a pot means I get to have fresh apricots (washed and with icky bits cut off) quartered, sprinkled with lemon juice (from the tree out the back), and drizzled with honey (harvested 25km away) for dessert tonight.

I have been cleaning out my office this year end break. Amongst other things, that means asking my husband to do the things in the rest of the house that involve things I stashed in there because asking is hard. Like hanging this, which now lives on the inside of the toilet door:

Does favourite human have foods I can lick?

Walking the dog this evening, and no platypus sightings *sigh*

BUT: four wombats! FOUR!!! And a rakali!

(Photos are of two teenage wombats and one adult female; the adult male was spotted cos he ran away through the shrubs while I was recording a frog going off for FrogID)

One of the cool things about it being school holidays is that there are all these fun things that are totally intended for but not exclusive to kids. Like the bug show I went to today at the Botanic Gardens.

This stick insect as long as my forearm is native to the Canberra area 😁

He got out of bed when I called him to his breakfast, what more do I want?

We had to go to Bunnings. Will I be forgiven when we get back?

Grainy tongue!

(Licking his leg. Loudly. Fortunately finished before his favourite human finished showering, because it's one of those noises that Does Not Stop and gets on Favourite Human's nerves)

I would offer a photo of my goober, but he is tucky-wuckied in bed and it is too dark to take good photos. So please have this grainy photo of his toes and nose peeking out from under his blankie

A couple of weeks ago, my boss got flowers and made up little bouquets for all her employees, just because. The gerberas are still brightening up my kitchen, because they're great cut flowers.

This is the dent from me dropping the bottle on my cars doorframe from eye height. There is a small chip in the car paint; that and this dent was the only damage. The previous bottle (cheap supermarket ware) smashed when I knocked it off my bedside table onto unfinished pine flooring.

I can highly recommend these water bottles - I can't bear the taste of metal and I get the OCD about water bottles that can't go through the dishwasher, so glass it had to be. So I bought 6x1L and 20x600mL from a catering supplier (it cost about the same as 3 cheap supermarket ones)
