So this is why we don't rely on screens to choose colours for home decor. On the left a photo by my phone. On the right 'Aquamarine - Light' on the Little Greene website. Same colour. Avoid waste (& irritation) - use real samples not photos!! #sustainableinteriordesign

I started trying to encourage my interior design clients to make more sustainable choices not long after starting my business, which has now been going 16 years. There has been (& sadly still is) so much waste in the design industry - and it doesn't have to be that way.

Can't believe it's been 11 years since I sat down with some like-minded business networking friends to discuss putting on an event to showcase our sustainable business offerings. And out of what (at the time) seemed a random idea, Kinder Living was born!
Hello Bluesky, it's good to be here! We are Kinder Living, a not-for-profit community interest company based in Horsham, West Sussex. Kinder Living started in 2014 with the aim of supporting & promoting local sustainable businesses. 11 years on & we're still doing that!

So this is another side of me. A chance ad in the pandemic for a course on turning your sketches into digital files led me to surface pattern design. I have my designs sustainably printed on high quality fabrics in the UK. I love being able to offer clients bespoke options at an affordable price.
I love the way surface pattern designs can evolve. When I create a motif I’m happy with (here a magnolia blossom in watercolour) I get to play with lots of options. Here a sketch that became fabric, a print & now a velvet cushion for a client who liked the colours in the print

There is no 'ideal home' that suits everyone, just like there's no 'one size' t-shirt that fits everyone & no paint colour that suits all - because we're all different.
Home is not just a collection of stuff - it's about how you live, what you need and what enhances your wellbeing.

I was originally a language student and spent a whole year abroad. I’ve never forgotten the experience and the lessons learned. It’s vital young people have these opportunities.
On Wednesday 15th January, James MacCleary MP has a debate on opportunities for young people to live and work in Europe.

Contact your MP asking them to attend the debate and make your voice heard.

Hello BlueSky. It's been a while since I posted in 'the other place' and now I just don't want my business represented on there at all. So it's good to be here. Join me for chat about sustainable design, making your space work for you & more - great interiors are not just about fluffing cushions!!
