Why would Japan use a Latin-origin word for animation? I’m happy to be corrected, but my understanding is that early Japanese manga & anime artists were heavily influenced by French cartoonists. That’s why you have Lupin, a French character, as one of the earliest touchstones

“Dessin animé” (literally “animated drawing”) is the French term for cartoon.

Thanks! Yeah, for me it’s that fear of having committed a moral transgression of not being perfectly “responsible enough” (with money, time, decisions, whatever) and the theoretical consequences (which, I will, of course, deserve)

Great article, especially the ending. I appreciate the apparent candor you were able to get from Pagliocca, but it’s hard not to wonder at this point what they can do to pull together

Idk how common the “stuckness” experience is, but personally it’s responsible for about 30% of my conversations in therapy

Wait, why? I took calc in school and just read a couple of Wikipedia pages on the economic concept of marginal utility. It seemed like a fairly intuitive concept turned into a formula. What am I missing about what this means for critical thinking?
