A message to delta airlines reading "I was just about to book my upcoming vacation on delta, but I'm making other arrangements now that I notice your map includes a body of water called "the Gulf of America". If you don't know the proper names of prominent geographical features, how can I possibly trust you to fly me to the right destination? I don't want to board a flight to New York and wind up in Turkey or something. No thanks."

Elon Musk staff has been caught plugging in hard drives inside the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the Treasury Department, and the General Services Administration (GSA). His staff encountered resistance when demanding that Treasury officials grant access to systems managing the flow of more than $6 trillion annually to programs like Social Security and Medicare. Tensions escalated when Musk's aides were discovered at OPM accessing systems, including a vast database known as the Enterprise Human Resources Integration (EHRI), which contains sensitive information such as dates of birth, Social Security numbers, performance appraisals, home addresses, pay grades, and length of service for government employees. In response to employees speaking out, Musk's aides locked civil servants out of computer systems and offices, with reports of personal items being searched.

Kevin Sniecinski El Granada 1d Edited I work for the NIH on the West Coast and spend most of my time in San Mateo County and San Francisco Clinics. Today, my employer (NIH) notified our local team that notifications were being sent to almost 78,000 families that their children will likely be removed from the life-saving treatments for various Cancers at different critical stages per the new administration's guidelines. I am a 2-time Cancer Survivor and got my care from Sutter Health and UCSF, so I can only imagine what my community and maybe even my neighbors may be looking at. I've never felt so overwhelmed and deeply saddened by something in the workplace as this. I would always be sure to visit our local pediatric clinics when I was sick, to remind myself what true courage, hope, and yes, even what despair looks like. To continue to show up and stay in a job that at times would break my heart over and over. As sad and upset as I am... I pray it is not your child or loved one that slips away. I pray that it is not your parent or partner who is affected by the additional announcement of Veteran Benefit cuts for the disabled. That it is not your child to come home and realize their parent (s) have been deported and they're alone and terrified. It's only the beginning. Today, I announced my retirement after 28 years in public health, clinical research, academia, and policy. All I know for sure... I will stay dedicated to building community and fighting for those who can not. The decision to turn off public comment is because on days like today - I can't fathom fighting, name-calling or further contributing to tearing down anything, especially my neighbors.

Hardly the first time the system has failed us, but easily among the most brazen.
