It was trying to convey some hopeful sentiments, it just really wanted to hit hard with the dark elements. Perhaps for contrast?

Okay Sherlock going completely silent when John asks him to be his best man because he’s his best friend is adorable.
I know it’s meant to be haha funny what a strange guy. But as someone who freezes up and goes quiet when someone expresses affection unexpectedly, this is cute as hell

I LOVE the color of John and Mary’s wedding. Whoever was in charge of these scenes (costuming, set design, color-grading in post, etc.) did such a beautiful job.
It’s THE thing I think about when I think of this season of Sherlock, just the use of color here.
