Happy 60th Birthday to the Voting Rights Act of 1965! Signed into law by LBJ to protect rights provided by the 14th and 15th Amendments, it sought to secure voting rights for minorities throughout the US.

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act being signed into law. It provided civil rights for people with physical and mental disabilities- guaranteeing accommodations and services. Signed into law by Pres. George HW Bush - it had widespread bipartisan support.
