For her feast day this weekend, St. Francis of Assisi holding up the Lateran Basilica, as dreamed by Pope Innocent III (who is said to have approved the primitive rule of the friars).

This is a pic from my first Mass. See the altar child on the far left? According to speculation in the parish office this morning, she is the same person as the bride coming in for a wedding meeting tonight. Really fun if true. She was a great server.

At the stopwatch phase of homily prep for the dedication of the Lateran basilica this Sunday. Sadly, I'm going to have to drop the amusing (to me anyway) bit about my difficulty adjusting when the English-language confessor there changed from the Dour Irishman to the Jolly Belgian. (file photos)

I'm attending a wedding on Saturday. Not as the priest for the wedding or a concelebrant, just a lout in the crowd. I'm presuming the Capuchin habit grants exemption from the dress code. Yes? I have a black zucchetto. Should I wear that? It's a Catholic wedding.

A parishioner went on a mission trip to the Philippines and brought me back this rosary. Often enough I regift rosaries but this one I decided I would keep. Today I took a short day off road trip to have it blessed by a Friar Preacher. They have a special little prayer for this and it's lovely.
