Born to pagan Greek parents, and possibly a slave, Luke was one of the earliest converts to Christianity. Luke was a physician who studied in Antioch and Tarsus. Some accounts mention that the evangelist may have been a ship‘s doctor.

Today, October 8, is the memorial of St. Reparata.
The saint lived in the 3rd century AD in Caesarea Maritima, Palestine. Different sources peg Reparata’s age between 11 to 20 years when she was arrested for her Christian faith during the persecution of the Emperor Decius.

Francis was the son of a rich cloth merchant, enjoyed a good education, and worked in his father’s business. The downside was, he had a rather wayward youth. He engaged in street fighting and even became a soldier.

They are the three angels mentioned by name in the Bible. Michael (“Who is like God”) was the archangel who battled against Satan and all the bad angels.

Author of the "Salve Regina" and the "Alma Redemptoris Mater."
Herman was born in 1013 with a cleft palate and cerebral palsy. He suffered from severe physical disabilities and could hardly speak.

The Assumption completes God's work in the Blessed Mother since it was not fitting that the flesh that had given life to God Himself should ever undergo corruption.

Maximilian was born in 1894 in Poland and became a Franciscan Conventual. He contracted tuberculosis and, though he recovered, he remained sickly all his life.

Dominic was born in 1170 in Caleruega, Spain and named after St. Dominic of Silos.
He worked for clerical reform and made it his mission to combat heretics, especially the Albigensians.
