I picked this up at the most recent Friends of A.K. Smiley Public Library bag sale, and I am loving it.

Also remembering an undergrad professor, the poet Howard Nemerov, referring to Auden as "Wystan" and being 👀👀👀.

Anyway, read #poetry. That is all.

When you talk in Victorian novel code with your brother:
So, will your next novel be a triple decker?
No, it won't be released in an installment plan. But it will *still* be perfect for reading in a railway carriage.

Has anyone else read THE WHALEBONE THEATRE by Joanna Quinn? I just moved it from my TBR to my #AmReading pile and am really enjoying it.

If you need a break, a space that is free of all that is going on right now, I highly recommend reading.

And what about a slow, meditative tour through the countryside and art and community and friendship? It can all be found in MADAME SOREL'S LODGER.

Recommended by over 4 out of 5 readers!

My thanks to the members of the St. Jerome's Library Trinity Episcopal Chick List book group both for *reading* MADAME SOREL'S LODGER and for inviting me to their discussion!

It was a wonderful evening, and I hugely appreciated the thoughtful conversation with a lovely group of readers.

My #BookRecommendation for the weekend: Maris Kreizman, I WANT TO BURN THIS PLACE DOWN: ESSAYS.

Reading it felt like sitting down and talking with a friend in the same wavelength. Refreshing.

Just finished reading a breathtaking chapter on George Eliot in literary critic Susan Gubar's GRAND FINALES.

Written with clarity and insight, as well as warmth and humanity.

My thanks to @typeeighteenbooks.bsky.social for publishing my short story, "Summer Night," as part of their Summer Short Reads series.

A story from long ago and far away from where I now live.

There are so many amazing young folks working to improve their communities - they inspire me.

Visited the Cheech Museum in Riverside, CA for the second time yesterday. It is such an amazing, vibrant collection and exhibition space.

My new favorite find: "La Santa Desconocida."

Also apologies: I thought I had a close up of the artist's name, but cannot find it.
